Captains
Captain Chris Phillips has spent his entire life inshore
fishing Pensacola Bay and Santa Rosa. Growing up his
father was a die hard inshore fisherman as well venturing
offshore on occasion also. Chris now spends his days
as a manager at Gulf Breeze Bait and Tackle and writing
for numerous fishing magazines and papers including
the Pensacola News Journal. He also wrote a book called
"Fishing Local Waters" that will hit the market
sometime in February.
Captain Corey Maxwell is the “old man” of
the crew, although he’s only thirty years old.
He grew up and continues to spend his time searching
for redfish, weather he’s chasing them through
the grass flats or trolling at Pensacola Pass.
Captain Matt McLeod is a life long resident of Pensacola.
He began fishing with his family as a child and started
working in the charter business in high school. He acquired
his captain’s license when he was eighteen years
old and began captaining charter boats. He is also an
experienced and successful tournament fisherman, having
competed in the Southern Kingfish Association for the
last ten years, as well as competing in many other tournaments
over the years. He also holds an International Game
Fish Association All-Tackle World Record. Captain Matt
worked with Escambia County Marine Resource officials
on the U.S.S. Oriskany project, the largest artificial
reef project in the world. Captain Matt has a passion,
love and dedication for fishing that makes him a great
addition to the Hot Spots Team.
